During the summer of 1997, four friends, Antonio Zamporlini, Franco Rosi, Alfio Bigi e Mauro Costamagna, who had met and become friends inside of the Perugina Works between the 1950s and the 1960s, decided to recover and valorise the chocolate confectioner's tradition of Perugia.
Zamporlini, current majority stock holder, guided by that pinch of eccentricity, which is always at the foundation of great enterprises, invited Franco, Alfio and Mauro to dinner. The times were mature to give life to a new chocolate confectionery. The months that followed were frenetic and the enthusiasm was irresistible. Having identified an area zoned for agro-food production between Perugia and Todi, construction and equipping of the new production facility with cutting edged production plants began.
The real adventure began in earnest in 2003.
The choice of the name “Vannucci”was inspired by the great Umbrian artist (Vannucci called Il Perugino), who between the 1400s and the 1500s, through his paintings, knew how to give prestige and a voice to the entire region. A deep connection with the history and the home territory goes along with every aspect of the company's work, which is decidedly directed toward the recovery and the valorisation of the chocolate confectioner's tradition in Perugia: a shining example, which has made the city, in the past, a sort of capital of sweetness.
Vannucci is today a small company with a high level of technology. The basic work of specialised personnel in the crucial phases of the production process aims at preserving that certain hand crafted dimension that is our hallmark.
